Supporting Over The Wall Camp

We are delighted to have awarded two new grants to Over The Wall Camp, continuing a partnership that is already changing lives across the UK. A grant of £1,000,000 will support Phase 2 of the Ockbrook development, helping to shape the next chapter of this ambitious project, while a second grant of £75,000 will support Over The Wall Camp’s 2026 Scottish Camps.

Tucked away in Derbyshire, the Ockbrook site is steadily transforming. What was once a school is becoming something entirely different, a place where children living with serious illness and disability can take part in adventures beyond their perceived limitations and rediscover the magic of childhood.

Phase 2 will play a vital role in expanding the site’s facilities and accommodation, bringing Over The Wall Camp closer to their ambition of supporting thousands more children each year. Moving from hired venues to a permanent, fully accessible site enables the charity to grow sustainably, offer more consistent experiences, and support children with increasingly complex needs.

The Over The Wall Camp team is very excited to be welcoming children and families to the very first camps at their new Ockbrook home this summer! As well as staying in newly refurbished and accessible accommodation, campers will enjoy a wide range of fun activities across the beautiful 17-acre site.

While Ockbrook continues to grow, the magic of Over The Wall Camp isn’t standing still. Children and families have been arriving full of excitement to Over The Wall Camps in Scotland. Our new grant towards the 2026 Scottish Camps will ensure that children across Scotland can continue to access these transformational experiences.

“I’m a big child at camp. I get to have fun, have a laugh and be a bigger version of my seven-year-old self. You can’t always be like that outside of camp; you need to be a bit more sensible. Camp is the only place I can fully let loose, where I know I’m safe and I don’t have to worry.” – Camper

As the Ockbrook site development continues to take shape, we’re excited to see how this partnership evolves and most importantly, how many more children will benefit in the years ahead.

“We are profoundly grateful to The Kentown Wizard Foundation for their remarkable generosity. Their ongoing commitment – from supporting the development of our Ockbrook campus to enabling our expansion in Scotland – is transforming what we can offer. Their belief in our mission is bringing our aspiration of serving many thousands more children living with chronic illness, and their families, ever closer.”
– Kevin Mathieson, Chief Executive of Over The Wall Camps

“Over The Wall Camp offers children and families something truly life-changing. The freedom to have fun, build confidence and simply be themselves away from the challenges they face every day. We’re proud to continue supporting their work and excited to see the lasting impact these grants will have across Ockbrook and The Over The Wall Camps.”
– Ian Jones, CEO of The Kentown Wizard Foundation
